We now begin the final week of Jesus’ life before the resurrection.
Holy Week. Passion Week. It has many names with huge significance.
All of humanity was waiting for this and didn’t even know it.
The people of Jerusalem thought they were welcoming their next revolutionary in the line of Judas Maccabeus, King David and Joshua.
36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Luke 19:36-38
Yet, these people were the same people who would cry “crucify him” 5 days later.
Jesus stays on mission even when we are fickle. Thank God for that.
