Remember our discussion yesterday?
Jesus shows grace to someone who appears not to deserve it or, at best, not deserve it on the Sabbath.
Luke gives us this story next.
18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the Kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”
20 Again he asked, “What shall I compare the Kingdom of God to? 21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”
Luke 10:18-20
Jesus is casting vision for what his Kingdom will be like. They had seen Alexander, Babylon and Rome forcefully stomp all over their land. But now Jesus is saying that his Kingdom will be slow and steady and one day will be all there is. It will grow like a mustard seed and rise like yeast in dough.
The same is true for that spark of faith in your friend you are praying for. It may seem small, but God specializes in taking small things and growing them into something that cannot be stopped.
Today, pray for the slow and steady growth of the faith of your friend.
Our Prayer: Father, will you fan into flame the spark they have? Will you carefully garden the seed that has been planted? And will you use me to be a part of this process?
