It’s more than a holiday for family, more than bunnies and eggs, and more than a family dinner. Easter changed the world.
Over the next 21 days let’s take some time to walk with Jesus’ closest friend, John as he tells us who this man was, and is.
Here’s what we know about John’s biography about Jesus. It was written after Matthew, Mark and Luke had written theirs. Mark begins his around the time of John the Baptist, Matthew traces his back to the time of Abraham, Luke goes all the way back to Adam, and John decides to go all the way back to the beginning of time. It’s almost like he’s saying, “Hey guys… this is bigger than even human history. It predates history!”
‘In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.’ John 1:1-5
As we take this journey together… let me ask you… how long have your current troubles and issues been going on? A few weeks? Your entire marriage? Since high school? Maybe generations?
John wants us to know that “THE WORD”, Jesus, the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, he predates them all. He is eternal.
How about we start with giving our finite troubles today to the one who is infinite?
Well, today would have been Day 1 on the Real Life Church trip to Israel, now postponed. At least I get to follow this 21-day devotional leading up to Easter. Thank you.
Was something supposed to be sent out to us or are we to check here each day? I wasn’t sure as I signed up. Thanks
Hi Brenda! If you have signed up for our mail list, you should be receiving the devotionals in your email inbox each day. If you think you may have not yet signed up, click on this link: https://mailchi.mp/pastorrustygeorge/21daystoeaster
It is so reassuring that God, but also Jesus and the Holy Spirit have been here from the beginning. Knowing that Jesus experienced so much more than I have ever experienced in my life, yes, I have had loss and Jesus was there to help me to get through it by his peace. I would rather have life the way it is with Jesus, than a wonderful life without him, because that’s all it would be is wonderful life here on earth, I want the rest the eternal life, that’s what we’ve been living for! Thank you Pastor Rusty for this Bible study
