This weekend the movie The Case for Christ will be released.  And while many of us shy away from faith based movies because they can be a bit cheesy or over the top, can I just take a moment and make a case for this one?

First, it’s based on an amazing book.  Most Christian books are either practical or intellectual or story driven.  But this book is actually all three.  It’s a story of a man investigating ancient beliefs in hopes of saving his marriage. And it ends up saving his life.  It’s a fascinating collection of data, apologetics, intrigue, and mystery.  It is truly a book worth reading whether you are a believer or not.

Second, it’s based on an incredible story.  Lee and Leslie’s journey of faith, love, forgiveness, and a pursuit of hope is a story to which all of us can relate.  I had a chance to sit down with Lee and Leslie and ask them about this movie and their relationship.  You can hear it all on my podcast.

Finally, the movie asks important questions.  For years we would sum up belief in Jesus by the three options C.S. Lewis gave us – Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord God.  And while that worked for us for many years, a fourth option has emerged: legend.  For many who have stayed away from church, they still hold a respect and belief in the person of Jesus, they just don’t know what he has to do with their lives today.  So in their mind he is simply a good man who became legendary.  But what if he is so much more?  What if all of our questions about God, and his interest in us, could be realized in one individual?  And what would that person tell us about God and ourselves?  This movie gets to the heart of that.  Th following website can give you more information into the movie and how to invite a friend, as well as how to talk about the film afterwards: thecaseforchristmovie.com

So, when you’re wondering what to do this weekend now that the Final Four is over… go see this movie!  I think you’ll be making a case for it yourself!
