We continue on with the Lord’s Prayer.
So far, we have acknowledged the Lord as Father.
Then we set him apart as holy.
We asked for what is up there to come down here.
And now we ask for help.
“Give us this day our daily bread.” Luke 11:3
God wants us to come to him with all of our problems, needs, and desires and trust him to provide.
“I look up to the mountains – does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2
We tend to make this the bulk of our prayer time. We ask and even demand God to fix our problems and make our lives more comfortable. But notice what Jesus prays. “God, meet our DAILY needs.” Today is enough. While it’s not a problem to pray for things that are a long way off, knowing we need Him today, and we’ll need Him again tomorrow is our reality.
He wants us to bring all our concerns and problems to Him – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He is a loving father. And that even includes the person for which you are fasting and praying for today.
Our Prayer: Father, you know my concern for my friend. You know my heart for them. Today will you meet their needs in a way that their only response is to acknowledge it came from you? Today will you meet my needs as well as you see fit.
